Last month, the Social Welfare Council (SWC) approved our new 3-year project proposal Humla Health and Education Support Project. The application was registered in October and due to the Dashain and Tihar Festivals, this added a delay, but we are happy to confirm the approval.
Now we are in a position to start preparing for ‘project kick-off’ and we have informed our local delivery partners, SHIP Nepal. We have already met with them to discuss banking arrangements and contracts etc.
We are preparing the project agreement/ contract between NT UK and NDF/ SHIP Nepal. This will enable us to transfer funds across from the UK to the NDF account in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Our 3-year project proposal aims to;
- To alleviate poverty through economic and technical assistance/ programs among the residents of Nepal
- To advance health, education and water/ sanitation/ hygiene (WASH) among the residents of Nepal
- To advance food and nutrition security and introduce programs to develop agriculture and food security among the residents of Nepal
- To advance renewable energy and climate change mitigation initiatives among the residents of Nepal
- To advance livelihood opportunities and income generation among the residents of Nepal, and help create a self-reliant society
- To advance basic needs, economic conditions and skills of the residents of Nepal
- To advance emergency relief and humanitarian aid among the residents of Nepal
- To advance peace, justice and equality among the residents of Nepal
- To preserve and promote the (traditional) culture and (natural) heritages of Nepal
We are delighted that we can now push on with delivering health and education projects across the hidden Himalayas in 2025 to 2027.
